Technique
The Spinology technique is gentle, precise and highly effective. It must be first stated that a Spinologist DOES NOT MANIPULATE the spinal vertebrae. It has been misstated that Spinologists are performing spinal manipulation as is common in some professions in the healthcare or therapeutic fields. Spinology training does not include any classes that teach manipulation.

Manipulation defined:
Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary
Main Entry: ma·nip·u·la·tiona
Pronunciation: ma-"nip-ya-'lA-shun

Function: noun
1 : the act, process, or an instance of manipulating especially a body part by manual examination and treatment; especially : adjustment of faulty structural relationships by manual means (as in the reduction of fractures or dislocations or the breaking down of adhesions)

A manipulation of any body part is performed as a ‘treatment’ or therapy and is carried out by the therapist for a very definite and predictable result. Manipulations are performed when the therapist or doctor decides where the body part needs to be and then forces it into that position. The doctor’s education in this sense is said to be greater that the body’s Wisdom.

A Spinologist will not pre-determine where your spinal bones need to be. Only your body's Wisdom knows that exact position. The small spinal muscles will already be attempting to direct the vertebra into the precise position to maximize function. The Spinologist will determine the direction the muscles are pulling in a failed attempt of self correction. A highly specific, very gentle thrust will be administered to allow the muscles to accomplish the task of adjusting the vertebra.

A Spinologist doesn’t adjust the spine. The spine adjusts itself as the spinal thrust is simply given to assist the body in doing what it is already naturally trying to do. This is just one of the many concepts and practices that make Spinology totally unique as a profession.
